My current procrastination

As it appears I've gone to uni to get a first in procrastination, I thought I would share my new favourite - I have rekindled my love for Sex and The City. Carrie Bradshaw is my dream woman, Miranda's witty biting comments, Samantha Jones just utterly totally and Charlotte's adorableness have been making the cold Scottish days a little bit warmer.

The clothes, the men and the city. How could I forget how much I loved this show?

1.It has things that reflect my new found uni life -

2. It has good advice -

3. Their problems are our problems, or your friend's problems, basically life problems -

4. Those women (and Stanford) have got friendship down -

5.These... just... yeah... Carrie... sigh

6. Let's not forget the real star of the show, the fashion -

even if it was 'out there' at times...

I think it will always have a place in my heart even when I'm not an angsty teenage girl... sigh.

So Exicited For the Meadham Kirchoff and Topshop Collab

I love a highstreet collaboration , I think I have an item from about four different collabs (Christopher Kane, Versace, Kate Moss and JW Anderson, although I did my them all on ebay... no shame)

Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop

But I really really love Meadham Kirchoff. So I might pay full price for this. and if it goes how the Mary Katranzou collaboration went, where the ebay prices where actually the same/more expensive, this may be an investment anyway.

Genetic Lotteries

I thought this might just be a model whinging about how they are just normal people doing normal things and society judges them blah blah, actually I thought it was enlightening and really looks at how warped society is when image and appearance are concerned. I really think it is something worth watching and giving thought.

Love/Hate Fashion of spring 2013.

Betsey Johnson
Okay, we get it you're really quirky and your having loads of fun.
And it is a bit try hard.
But I do kind of like it, mainly because you rarely models smile or actually look happy.

Thom Browne
It looks like he's raided the wardrobe of Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter, which is probably why  I like the colour palette, fabrics, textures, layering, shoes and some of the silhouettes a lot. I do think they went a little over-board with the flour though. And he spells him name 'Thom', seems a bit pretentious.

Guys Turning Gym Shorts into Dresses

One enterprising redditor came up with the idea and posted a photo of himself to r/funny. Just in time for New York Fashion Week, a new sartorial sensation was born.
Here's how it works: Get a pair of gym shorts. Put both of your legs into one of the legs of the gym shorts. Pull the other leg up over your shoulder, so that it acts as a sleeve and the waistband stretches diagonally across your chest. Adjust the waistband to obscure your nipple (optional). Twerk. I love this.

Loving the Dolce and Gabanna ads at the moment.

Firstly, I love the whole 'big Italian family' thing they have going on. I LOVE, I repeat love (Dorothy can vouch for me here) clashing patterns and I love the bohemian summer vibe. I love it all. The male ones and the female ones, I CAN'T EXPLAIN, I just want that summer, I want that life and I want those clothes. Advertising at it's best really.

My top five ads -

  • What mostly got me with this is the Glamorous granny, also I love the various lengths of hemline, pattern, headscarves and earrings (very Romany gypsy, Esmerelda eat your heart out).I also desperately want the patterned kaftan thing. I really like the little two piece bralet skirt outfits.  So much I could say.

  • I like how casual this is, and I like seeing men in pattern. I just think this photographer has really stepped up his game, it's a community that tells a story and they look comfortable and happy. The whole thing just exudes joy and that is so rare in fashion nowadays.

  • Okay so here I mostly liked the boat, but look at the patterns, the colours it is SO rich, I really really want to get this look. For once I feel like it is an attainable trend, looking that chic may be harder but I've been pattern clashing for years, pulling it off is harder ...

  • I like this one because it is almost like mourning, I like the change of tone, it's early evening in my mind. Here the patterns might not be as violent, but the textures are clashing and it makes my fashion lust just grow. Obviously the sheer dress in the bottom right steals the show, it speaks for itself, beautiful.

  • Here the set up makes me happy, she's just mucking about with her giant earrings on and her straw bag flapping around. This is another one of those bralet skirt two pieces I like so much, not to mention the Riviera pattern and the sun-kissed skin really does just make it that little bit prettier. Oh Italians, well done.

Also just discovered the Children's line ad campaign, words don't describe how cute the children are, if I ever have children and live in a fabulous place I will attempt to dress them in that manner.
When I saw the 'Caribbean esque' prints in Dolce and Gabbanas' collection this year I hunte online fabric shop for similar. Coming soon I will be recreating these great  looks, including that Giles dress
A dress I'm going to recreate
I cant remember who this designer is, but 3d embellished flowers were a big thing in the shows, so I going to re-create this too, at less than £20!

Saint Laurent, Paris Fashion Week: A Bit 'Hipster' Unfortunatly

Sorr, I'm really upset about the Being Human ending, so I'm being a bit of a bitch. I've been really busy, so this is a bit late time wise, as the Saint Laurent show was over a week ago, but hey. I think the time it took me shows how uninspired I was.
A new direction from Saint Laurent, which is freshly headed by HEDI SLIMANE, who I understand to be a bit of a free spirit. However, it may be a bit tying too hard to be 'effortless/cool', you know what I mean, a bit, dare I say it ... hipster. Sorry, not impressed, you could find much of it in All Saints, not that I have a problem particularly with All Saints, I just think that when I watch fashion shows I want to be wowed, and think 'how..why..how' not 'I saw that on ASOS I think'. I want to see impossibly beautiful  complex and original designs. Not the high street with sequins. Apparently other fashion journos have called it 'bad topshop'. Agreed, something extraordinary is required on the catwalk, if you can't do it there where can you?

Regards,
Dorothy

This has all been 'done' SO MANY TIMES. Get some originality and but 'Yves' back in the title, it sounds so much better.
