New Youtube Star! Let Me Tame You Tiger

He's like a one man Inbetweener

'Dos' and 'Don'ts' of Revising

  • Don't blog should probably be my first point buuuuuut here we are. So, DON'T follow my example.
  • DO get snacks and beverages. My preferred choices are -
yuuuuuuuuum...and refreshing
calming

  •  DO take breaks but DON'T start projects my most recent ones being: learning French, making holiday lists and sourcing items (eg. SHOPPING ONLINE - to be avoided like the plague) and any sort of bodily improvements - nail painting, waxing, face-masks etc.
  • DO have some background noise, a bit of music may distract at first but after a while it helps you gage how much time you have spent on one thing or just breaks the monotony of silence. Disney playlist and Fleetwood Mac make me want to live again.

  • DON'T get bogged down, have a little dance break if a song you love comes on OR just close your eyes and think of your aim, eg. 'OMG I really want loads of money and a big house and a fast car and a big wardrobe so I need good grades yah.' Okay maybe not that but still thinking of where you want to be, can help. I prefer a dance break.

  • DO make a list and stick to it, I find schedules just get fucked off but lists you can eventually get through, but DON'T make your list impossible or you will just discourage yourself. I mean come on three hundred and one items just signals immanent disaster and assuming the foetal position to cry.
  • Did I mention DON'T BLOG, I just lost a good twenty minutes to this. DON'T BLOG. Well do because it is fun...
  • I'm going to add: Do NOT START WATCHING A NEW TV SHOW (GAME OF THRONES)
  • DO NOT START WATCH CONSPIRACY THEORIES ON YOUTUBE EITHER.
Feel free to take my wise wise words into account or simply to ignore them entirely, because your future is not my future. I'm trying to not screw mine up, sort of...

Loving the Dolce and Gabanna ads at the moment.

Firstly, I love the whole 'big Italian family' thing they have going on. I LOVE, I repeat love (Dorothy can vouch for me here) clashing patterns and I love the bohemian summer vibe. I love it all. The male ones and the female ones, I CAN'T EXPLAIN, I just want that summer, I want that life and I want those clothes. Advertising at it's best really.

My top five ads -

  • What mostly got me with this is the Glamorous granny, also I love the various lengths of hemline, pattern, headscarves and earrings (very Romany gypsy, Esmerelda eat your heart out).I also desperately want the patterned kaftan thing. I really like the little two piece bralet skirt outfits.  So much I could say.

  • I like how casual this is, and I like seeing men in pattern. I just think this photographer has really stepped up his game, it's a community that tells a story and they look comfortable and happy. The whole thing just exudes joy and that is so rare in fashion nowadays.

  • Okay so here I mostly liked the boat, but look at the patterns, the colours it is SO rich, I really really want to get this look. For once I feel like it is an attainable trend, looking that chic may be harder but I've been pattern clashing for years, pulling it off is harder ...

  • I like this one because it is almost like mourning, I like the change of tone, it's early evening in my mind. Here the patterns might not be as violent, but the textures are clashing and it makes my fashion lust just grow. Obviously the sheer dress in the bottom right steals the show, it speaks for itself, beautiful.

  • Here the set up makes me happy, she's just mucking about with her giant earrings on and her straw bag flapping around. This is another one of those bralet skirt two pieces I like so much, not to mention the Riviera pattern and the sun-kissed skin really does just make it that little bit prettier. Oh Italians, well done.

Also just discovered the Children's line ad campaign, words don't describe how cute the children are, if I ever have children and live in a fabulous place I will attempt to dress them in that manner.
When I saw the 'Caribbean esque' prints in Dolce and Gabbanas' collection this year I hunte online fabric shop for similar. Coming soon I will be recreating these great  looks, including that Giles dress
A dress I'm going to recreate
I cant remember who this designer is, but 3d embellished flowers were a big thing in the shows, so I going to re-create this too, at less than £20!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/may/18/older-women-tv-anna-ford

This article beautifully highlights the lack of representation of women in the workplace, mostly in broadcasting, and in particular ladies over a certain age. And it is true, they just drop of our screens, or get so much plastic surgery you never know how old they are or if they are, in fact, human.

All I have to say on the matter is that my grandmothers have been two of THE MOST influential women in my life, with so much wisdom to impart, graceful and poised I wouldn't change them for the world. They have aged naturally and I wouldn't have it any other way. Do not underestimate women that have experienced so much change, they know so much we don't.

You're Too Fat For Abercrombie and Fitch. Gawd...

So basically, I've recently read a very rude statement from the guy that owns Abercrombie and Fitch: Robin Lewis, co-author of The New Rules of Retail, told Business Insider the retailer's CEO, Mike Jeffries, 'doesn't want larger people shopping in his store, he wants thin and beautiful people.

'He doesn't want his core customers to see people who aren't as hot as them wearing his clothing,' Mr Lewis added. 'Mr Jeffries told Salon in a 2006 interview: 'That’s why we hire good-looking people in our stores. Because good-looking people attract other good-looking people, and we want to market to cool, good-looking people. We don’t market to anyone other than that.' This kind of statement is wrong business-wise, and really rude. If he was to say that only cool people should wear Abercrombie and Fitch, then it's a very small market that he is aiming for. The really 'cool' people only are normally a small group, that probably think A and F is 'too mainstream' but that's beside the point. The people who actually buy A and F are those who aim to be like the 'cool' people, we would be better off not insulting the people who actually buy his clothes, the follower, not the leaders. Plus, I don't think of A and F as being 'cool' just very very dull. This is so true, the people we all aspire to emulate are normally the ones that set the trends not the ones that follow them. Admittedly I did once succumb and bought some bottle green joggers. Unfortunately they said 'Abercrombie' on the bum, and in my 14 year old head I thought this was slutty mcsluttson and decided never to wear them out. One should avoid having a slogan across one's derrière when possible.

Can I just point this out ( as many others have) he is clearly making up for some kind of personal issues because look people... look...

Love Coma Happiness.

IT'S BEEN AGES SINCE I BLOGGED. Oh hey there, it's me, Daphne. I exist too. Partially, I've been in a bit of a love coma, yes that's right, if I'm not revising or aimlessly trawling the internet/having farcical discussions with Dorothy then I am all loved up with my boyfriend. And do you know what, it sounds stupid but sometimes I feel like we aren't allowed to be happy nowadays, I mean especially here in Britain, we don't really do raw emotion, (especially not in public). But I'm pretty loved up as sickening as that may sound and minus potentially failing my exams I'm pretty happy too. So here are a few things that I hope will make you happy too.

Carefully selected might I add from things I have experienced during my love coma:

  • He introduced me to The Big Lebowski, this bit killed me and it isn't even the funniest bit

You shine that ball Jesus, 'nobody fucks with the Jesus'.
  • Qat is a scrabble permitted word, as is qi. THAT'S RIGHT SCREW 'U' (hehe geddit, oh puns)
  • An old favourite newly appreciated, get up and have a little dance. Seriously, do it.

I really hope you danced...
  • Black Books and Spaced. (Spaced has also got me calling people kitten as a term of endearment. Can't stop)
  • This quote from The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy - 'The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't.'
  • And try be sexy to 'Let's get it on' by Marvin Gaye, when alone, or with anyone really, it just makes for truly hilarious situations. Trust me.

I Do Not Want To See 'Brave' Turned Into 'Babe'. LEAVE MERIDA ALONE

Before and after: Merida, Brave's feisty heroine who will officially be crowned Disney's 11th princess on Saturday, has undergone a royal make-over which has left mothers furious and frustrated

Before and after: Merida, Brave's feisty heroine who will officially be crowned Disney's 11th princess on Saturday, has undergone a royal make-over which has left mothers furious and frustrated
After

Merida, the 'feisty' archer princess has been disneyified. Her 'make-over' is because She will officially be crowned Disney's 11th princess on Saturday, She's lost her hard wearing gown, grown breasts, and  lost her bow. Her hair has also changed dramatically, as a curly haired lass my self, sing it sister, I know that that kind of curl is simply not possible living in the Scottish Highlands, never has a truer word been said, Merida's original curl however, completely plausible. In fact she was a completely plausible character, now, not so much. I admit that the fact that it has being converted into 2-D may have something to do with the curl factor, but the waist? And the lack of bow? She's lost character. What was refreshing about this new breed of princess has been destroyed. And yes, I know that it's simply a cartoon, but Disney princess representation really affected me when I was little. It set up infeasible expectations, as does this new Merida. They don't want to portray role models, they want glamorous princesses.

Glamour.com beauty writer, Petra Guglielmetti.
'Having a curly-haired daughter has changed my feelings about hair texture in this world. More specifically, I wish there were more celebration of natural curls in our popular culture,' wrote the mother-of-two.
'So you can imagine how I feel about the news that Disney has given a keratin treatment to its heroine Merida. Yeah, those curls have definitely been smoothed a bit. They’re more like Victoria’s Secret model waves now.'

Merida, lauded for her refreshing representation of an authentic teenager, was originally created to offer little girls a 'different kind of princess,' according to Brave writer and co-director, Brenda Chapman.
Ms Chapman envisaged Merida as 'a stronger princess that both mothers and daughters could relate to, so mothers wouldn't be pulling their hair out when their little girls were trying to dress or act like this princess,' she said. 'Instead they’d be like, "Yeah, you go girl!"'

Peggy Orenstein, the author of Cinderella Ate My Daughter, which looks at how princess culture affects young girls, is also against the redesign.
The writer, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her daughter, Daisy, said: 'In the end, it wasn’t about being brave after all. It was about being pretty.'

The petition to change Merida back to her original form is here

I've just noticed that Mulan lost her sword in her Disney princess picture.... She was my favourite! Fuming. And they've given Rapunzal her locks back, guess a bob isn't princessy enough...
Disney's princesses: Merida will join the likes of Cinderella, Snow White, and Pocahontas to become Disney's 11th princess on Saturday

Charles Ramsey (Ohio Hero) is Brilliant- And Now Has His Own Remix

As I am sure you have all heard, on Monday, three women and a child were freed from imprisonment  (By a guy called Ariel and his two brothers, totally spoils The Little Mermaid) in Cleveland, Ohio. I hope these ladies live a great and fulfilling life. The man who helped rescue Amanda Berry, the first woman to escape the house, then gave a number of interviews. Not only has his actions caused great admiration (he kicked down a door), but his general personality and interviews has resulted in some pretty brilliant one liners ('I eat ribs and listen to salsa music with this guy'), and a catchy remix tune. Here is a selection of  Charles Ramsey's offerings. Can I just add that this bloke actually made my day, so glad people like him exist.

I want to know whats so distracting on the floor.

bro...I know some is wroooon when little pretty white gurl ran into a black man's arms......
Dead giveaway, deaaaad give away ddddddeeaaad giveaway
And here's the song...
Someone give this guy free McDonald's for life

On a serious note, one of the many things that disturbed me about this case was Michelle Knight. The two other girls went missing aged 13 and 14, in comparison  Knight was 20. There was considerably less concern for Knight's welfare compared to the younger victims, even though those close to Knight said her disappearance was out of character.  Personally, as I am closer to 20 than 14, I'm scared that if I suddenly went missing, there would be little or no search, when do you stop being vulnerable?  If you look at how many people are missing: there are a total of around 900 unidentified cases (including cases notified to the Bureau before 2010/11) which remain unidentified. The majority of these cases are unidentified bodies (83%) with a small number of body parts (11%) and unidentified alive people (6%) also still awaiting identification.
This makes me realize how easy it would be for me to just drop off the face of the earth.
It's really disheartening to think that people would just give up on you.
